AI and Blockchain: Building Open Source Intelligence

Hosted during the Investing in AI Summit on November 12, the panel AI and Blockchain: Building Open Source Intelligence brought together thought leaders to explore how blockchain and AI are shaping the future of open systems. Moderated by Paul from Bitte Protocol, the panel featured Luis Freitas of Bitte Protocol and Pierre LeGuen from NEAR.ai, offering a deep dive into the interplay between these transformative technologies.

The panelists examined how blockchain serves as both a payment and data layer for AI systems. Louis highlighted its capacity to ensure accountability and traceability in autonomous agent systems, stating, “AI and blockchain together offer the accountability and traceability we need for a future filled with autonomous agents.” Blockchain’s transparency, they noted, is crucial as AI increasingly interacts with financial systems and user data.

Pierre shared NEAR.ai’s efforts in building composable AI agent networks, emphasizing the value of open-source platforms in empowering developers. By enabling agents to collaborate dynamically and execute complex tasks, NEAR.ai is setting a foundation for scalable and adaptable AI applications. “In the future, AIs will handle tasks we find boring, but they’ll need a transparent and secure way to operate—this is where blockchain comes in,” Pierre remarked, stressing the importance of combining decentralized technologies.

Discussions also delved into the need for open-source data models to democratize access and drive innovation in AI development. The session reinforced how integrating blockchain with AI not only advances technical capabilities but also ensures ethical and transparent systems for a decentralized world.
